Located in Sydney’s eastern suburb of Kensington, is Zig Zag house designed by Stukel Architecture.

Lick were engaged to provide interior and exterior paint colour solutions for the existing federation bungalow and the impressive zig zag extension.

The existing clinker-brick facade lent itself to a heavier colour scheme: dark charcoal-greys, mid tone grey-blues and a dirty shade of white highlight the architectural detail.

The dirty white links the zig zag roof and the dark charcoals connect the new extension with the selection of natural finishes made by the architect.

The interiors of the new extension are primarily bright whites and blacks with a featured green Venetian plaster blade column. The rich imposing blade column adds character to the austere composition.

The blue-grey entrance hall of the existing cottage provides a connection and a transition between the old and new spaces within the home. A seamless quality is inhered in the venetian plaster.

The primary bedroom wall is a joyful shade of soft yellow-green. The joinery has been finished with a muddy-green laminate orchestrated around the owners eclectic mix of furnishings and artworks.
